Experience
I enjoy explaining concepts in math and physics. My education is in Mathematical Physics (PhD). I have been tutoring students for over 15 years at all levels of mathematics and physics. I have also taught both mathematics and physics as an adjunct in several colleges. Since every student is different, I try to “customize” my approach to meet the individual needs of the student. When I meet students for the first time, I like to find out from them what their goals are for our sessions and the challenges they are having in class. I think it is important to spend a lot of the sessions working with students to help them develop strategies for solving problems. At the same time, if needed, we discuss the theory that is required. There is seldom only one way to approach a problem, so if students are interested, I work with them to seek alternate paths to finding the solution. I like to make sure that students get a thorough understanding of the subject so when they have completed their tutoring sessions with me they will feel comfortable and confident to answer many different kinds of problems on their own.
